I still have not gotten to the library; I think I shall go later this week. Perhaps on... Thursday?... since that is the day governed by Thelxiepeia, even if you don't call it by her name, here. Molpe, as the patroness of art, would be fortuitous as well; but Thelxiepeia is more aligned with learning, which is my ultimate goal.
It occurred to me, though- for I did pass by the building- that I shall have no idea where to start.

So, good City-- what do you recommend as reading material for a fool like me? [Small, good-natured laugh.] And if anyone would care to join me, I'd be glad for the company. If Thelxday isn't-- Thursday-- isn't convenient for you, I don't mind changing the date, either.

In other news, it appears I may be acquiring a pet in the near future, provided none of my roommates object to my keeping one of Suresh's ducklings. I have not thought of a suitable name for it. I named Oreb, the night-chough who took it upon himself to move in with me, after a raven in the Writings; but offhand I cannot think of any places where ducks are mentioned...

I do hope that the recent curses have not left anyone too distressed. I myself have been spared thus far, thank the gods; but for those who have not, you are in my thoughts. If anyone wants a sympathetic ear, albeit an easily confused one, do let me know.

[ooc: Links for reference only of course ♥ And if any chars in Building 2, #214-215 are allergic to ducks or something feel free to tell him no. XD The only reason he doesn't tealdeerfully address each of you individually is that I have a tough time keeping up with who-all lives there. ^^;]

What to read depends on what you want, for what you are looking.

At a loss? I am at a loss.

So many things--Shakespeare, perhaps.

[identity profile] thejejunejesuit.livejournal.com 2008-09-03 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
He wrote plays with roots and echoes that go through a thousand generations.

Try Homer as well. He was a poet when poetry wasn't yet called poetry. And blind.

Silk? The name of something is its name. So then-- Your name is unusual.

Stephen Dedalus.

Yes, I understand that. But, whorl? Not world but whorl?

Yours as well.

Then call it by its name, the whorl, spiraled water in the wake of ships, spinning sleepily. Or worse, storms and whirlpools, things to be avoided.

Scylla? Should he or should he not read Homer if Scylla is his patroness? The namer of augurs? I called myself an augur once.

I have had some aspirations of that sort, towards poetry, and art.

I have heard her name before.

Strange blessings. Blessed Christine. Thank you?.
